An image floating around social media suggested that former Xbox Series X|S timed exclusive The Medium would be part of September 2021’s PS Plus lineup, but Bloober Team has stressed that’s not the case. Writing on social media, the Polish developer’s Tomasz Gawlikowski said: “The Medium will launch on PS5 on 3rd September, with DualSense support, but it definitely will not be available in PS Plus.”
Bloober Team then followed up on its official account: “We confirm that: The Medium on PS5 will not be available in PS Plus.” The rumour never really made sense anyway, because September 2021’s PS Plus games are not scheduled to be available to download until 7th September, the week after the survival horror’s release. Side-scrolling brawler FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch is a much likelier fit from where we’re sitting.
There have been plenty of PS Plus leaks this year, but September 2021’s lineup remains a secret for now. It’s unfortunate that developers like Bloober Team have to come out and clarify these rumours, of course, but the speculation could ultimately have an impact on its bottom line, so it’s probably for the best that it swiftly shut this story down.

I wouldn't even play this trash even if it was free on PS Plus to be honest.
there should be a contest to come up with a worse name than bloober team. team tugger, studio azztarts and bluebox the deuce would be my entries.
Removed - flaming/arguing
@Bleachedsmiles I've played this game through gamepass and while I agree the game is really nothing special, I recognize that there are people out there such as yourself that would benefit from this being on PS+.
The game itself could benefit from exposure and help bloober team with their next game.
The game is fine. It's not 40€ fine, more like PS Plus and Gamepass fine. Bloober still doesn't know how to make a proper horror game.
Good, would have been a wasted spot in the lineup. Even though the actual offerings will probably be garbage as well.
@GigaGaia
Agreed, but with the way Sony is going we'll probably get something even worse lol
Shame, it’s a step above the garbage we’ve got recently.
I was excited at first and then I saw the gameplay and didn't care anymore.
Apparently not Fist either according to a chat on discord where someone from the publishing team denied it when someone asked if they should pre-order or not
doesn't matter what's added, people will complain regardless
It looks decent for what it is, even if it isn't the survival horror game I was hoping for when it was first revealed.
I just hope the PS4 additions next month are decent. I didn't even bother redeeming this month's games.
Good thing I've cancelled my PS+ then. I was mildly interested in this and
Scorn out of all of Xbox's previously announced games and I'm really rather annoyed they get the best version of Psychonauts 2, but that's definitely not enough to justify me buying an X Box Series X, pity, wish they either had more to offer or let Double Fine release a physical PS5 copy of Psychonauts 2.
I'd much rather have F.I.S.T. on ps plus than The Medium.
Whatever, it's too bad that we couldn't at least have a half-decent game on PS Plus, but I just hope that we get an actually good game next month.
@GigaGaia Can't knock it till you try it. I thought that it was ok, but clearly others enjoy it more than I did.
Can't really call a game trash if you never played it though.
Fist has a pre order discount on the store so I'm doubtful about that. Happy about the medium though. I would have been gutted if they pulled that one out!
Game was great. The attention to detail and the alternative history was engaging. Ending was very memorable. I probably wouldn’t have played it if it wasn’t on game pass. Not a game I usually purchase.
Its a good thing its not on ps plus. All the ps5 games that were free are garbage so far. I'd be angry if I payed anything for them. Imagine paying $80 for oddworld. Even hunters arena has micro transaction characters at launch.....
This game looks good glad its not free.
Of course, it wouldn't be on PS Plus. Same with FIST. Both games have PS Plus discount when pre-order. Why should both games have a PS Plus discount on them when pre-order just to be PS Plus games? That makes no sense at all.
I have to disagree with the didnt make sense part. Yes The medium was just after the cut off point but remember Wreckfest launched a month ahead of its next gen release if I remember right. Still a shame mind
Im good, I'm honestly more interested in Tormented souls than whatever bloober has to offer
There are plenty of ps5 games sony could let us have but we will always get the indie games which i have nothing against but there are plenty of bigger titles they could dole out so that people purchase the indie titles thus supporting them..hows about the spiderman ps5 edition (not morales) or wrc 9? There is also a massive ps4 back cat too so lets hope this month is a good selection because last month was really quite poor..
I really enjoyed playing this game. I enjoyed it far more than 12 minutes but clearly opinions and experiences are highly subjective.
Shame. Someone might have actually played it if it was.
@GigaGaia thought and wanted to write the same... nothing more to say.
Sad news but understandable, the game's release date doesn't line up with when September's games will be available.
@starbuck2212 Dont worry im going to buy it i like how it looks.
Well i know what will happen with the next PS Plus games. I have had quite some good games this year and i totally dont understand or agree with the bitching community.
@Flaming_Kaiser I was just going to say something similar - we have very short memories.
This month wasn't spectacular or anything, but personally I had never played Plants Vs Zombies so I was happy to add that to my plus library, and previous months were very good.
A Plague Tale wasn't that long ago.
I would take a free physical copy🤣
@The_New_Butler Don't forget Final Fantasy - sure, it was the PS4-only version, but a barely 1 year old huge game nonetheless.
I enjoyed it for what it was. Nothing amazing but it interested me enough from start to finish. Glad I played it on Gamepass and didn’t pay full price.
If it was on PS+ it would definitely be worth a try, but it’s not.
@AdamNovice that's so true. The comments are so negative here. And why? Because August PS Plus wasn't that good?
People sit on piles of 100 games, they didn't even finish and complain about things
Oh well…🥱
Yes I also think FIST would be nice.
@Shepherd_Tallon @The_New_Butler @Flaming_Kaiser I agree. Plus has been excellent this year. People love to moan i guess. People would still complain if they dropped demons souls, horizon forbidden west (early access) and miles morales
Honestly the logic makes no sense. People only seem happy when AAA games they already own are on the service due to some perceived level of value. I actually enjoy this new policy of dropping unreleased games straight onto plus. Yes last month did nothing for me, but given the run we've had this year, we can hardly complain
It’s really disappointing how extremely critical some gamers are now towards a ton of enjoyable games. Seems like some of them complain pretty hardcore about just about every game there is. Gee whiz. Maybe you’re the problem, and you’re unable to see the good and fun in someone’s hard work. I know some games have their issues, but man.
@PowderToastMan Was going to say something similar. The idea that a game is trash/garbage etc is almost always ridiculous hyperbole. I don't understand how people can live their lives being so perpetually disappointed and unhappy. Like, maybe find another hobby if you see so little value in it?
I was stood in line at a CEX a while back and the guy in front was ranting on to the staff about how Days Gone was a "garbage game" and he was astounded it was worth more than £1. Now Days Gone is 100%, unequivocally not my kind of game, but to dismiss it as worthless is insane. People need to get a grip.
Am I the only person who enjoyed The Medium lol? Judging by the comments, I might be their only fan haha.
@TuckNorris85 I watched a playthrough on YouTube and I am excited to get it and play it when it releases. Some of us do enjoy and appreciate games and I am thankful for it.
Thought it was exceedingly average at best. An interesting premise and beginning that never comes close to fulfilling the expectation it attempts to build. In a word: Forgettable. Though others liked it a little more.
@TuckNorris85 Nope, I really enjoyed it as well! I just didn't have anything of value to say on this topic. I thought the dual reality gameplay was a really cool way to visualize the main character's awkwardness of seeing two planes of reality at the same time.
I feel it is something one has to try before passing judgement. Watching it on YouTube is much different than actually playing it.
@feral1975 Just grab a month of Game Pass Ultimate and try Xbox Game Cloud (formerly xCloud). You can even use a DualSense controller, worth a go.
@PlayNation5
I don't have broadband, just limited data on my phone, so streaming wouldn't be an option for me.
@Ziek1883
All the PS5 games that were free were garbage? Control, Plague Tale and Oddworld were garbage? You got some really high standards then.
@PegasusActual93 control was highly addictive. Gameplay focused games like that with hyperactive “control” where you dart around a la “returnal” keep us coming back for more, developers know this mechanism I think and we’ll see more
@velio84 I’ll remember Observer as my introduction to PS5. And Hauer’s swansong, whilst trying to overlook the hours / money squandered with Demons Souls I hated that thing
I played this too via Game Pass. Originally this is the game I wanted a Xbox Series X for, having played this via game pass though I'm glad I didn't buy a Series X just for this because I would of been very disappointed.
@GamingFan4Lyf definitely agree that everybody should try it ( at least if it is on a subscription service you have access to anyway). I wouldn't rave about it, and I probably won't go back to it to clean up the collectibles ( I missed a postcard and a note I think, got 920G) but I did thoroughly enjoy it. The split screen was a pretty cool technique and more importantly it wasn't overused. It was certainly an improvement on Blair Witch though.
@TuckNorris85 I didn't go back either, but I am also not an Achievement/Trophy Hunter.
It was something I was already interested in, so even if I didn't have Game Pass, I would have bought it. I am probably not a person to rely on for recommendations, though: I loved Duke Nukem Forever.
Twelve Minutes is another really interesting game. It felt very Twilight Zone (which I also really love).
